Our Story

137-Tri is named after 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine — the chemical formula for caffeine. It’s the one molecule that shows up in a Roman espresso, an Indian chai, a Japanese matcha, and a Southern sweet tea, connecting rituals across global cultures.

We started 137-Tri because we didn’t want to just serve coffee — we wanted to bring a bit of that whole world to one cart. Alongside espresso drinks made with beans from Jubala Coffee, a local Triangle roaster who trained us on the craft, we pour chai and matcha, with more caffeinated traditions from around the globe on the way.

Based in the Triangle, we bring a rustic, yet elegant, hands-on cart to weddings, private parties, festivals, and corporate events across Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and beyond — wherever there’s a reason to gather, we’re happy to show up with something warm to hand people.
